On-line Play

Amendments to this:

• a "skype" like feature to make video available so that online players can see competitors swing or chat
• Keyboard chat with online players during a round - with keyboard shortcuts to play pre-recorded phrases like "Good ball" or "Nice putt...yeeeaahh.. you're still away" or the like

Awesome idea! I hate to say it, but im getting bored playing my courses over and over just trying to better my scores.. some competition would be great!!! It would need a good way to establish each players handicap.

Thanks. I think this could help Dancin' Dogg differentiate itself form the other expensive golf simulators - and make them more engaging than their competitors. I know this is a golf simulator at it's core. The line between "game" and "simulator" is hard navigate from a branding and selling perspective. Interesting to see how the product evolves over time.

On a related note. It would be nice to be able to play against saved rounds either you have posted or others have, either in real time during actual play or against a saved scorecard.

Yeah still waiting for this, I suggested this back in 2009 when I got my optishot. I have friends in other cities and countries who would enjoy a social game during their snowy winter instead of listening to me going on about how fantastic golf is here on the Garden Route in S. Africa 364 / 365

This would be a super feature!

We are planning on adding this capability to OptiShot. We cannot give a time line for release yet as we are in the early stages of development.

We certainly appreciate all of the ideas you have offered! Don't stop now - keep posting any ideas you have for what this should include and how it should work.

This would be great!, The ability to create a private group or join a public group that needs a 4th player. with the feature in place maybe every now and then we could even play some rounds with the people that made optishot possible for the working man. it would be an honor to do so.

Competition is the reason why most of us play. That is my main motivation to get better. Adding this feature would take OptiShot to the next level. The sooner the better!!

Why wait for this feature to come out. You can do online play. Of course the honor system is in affect as if you are playing real golf. In fact, if OptiShot came out with an Online feature that would make Online Play worse because you would have to "WAIT FOR YOU PLAYING PARTNERS TO HIT"

Here is how to Play Online:

• Obviously get a partner with an Optishot.

• Now, you must have your OptiShot connected to a PC as well as connected to another display such as a TV or Projector.

• Use windows to "EXTEND" the display to have the Optishot on your secondary display and your desktop on your PC. Here is how to extend your display(pictures below):

* "RIGHT" Click on your desktop

* Select "Screen resolution"

* Where it says "Multiple displays" click "Extend these displays" in the drop down.

• Now on your secondary display, you have the OptiShot software running and on your PC you will see your desktop.

• Now just open up your webcams in Skype or some other webcam server on your desktop.

• You might want to place your PC with your webcam in it behind you so your playing partner can see you and your secondary display.

• BAMM...you have online play now. You can chat with your partners with your webcam and play simultaneously. Of course the honor system is in affect. But to me this works better as you don't have to wait on any other players or an OptiShot server and you can do a webchat as opposed to not actually seeing your playing partners. Webcams helps in creating a social aspect that just having online play would not.

Is there anyway to make the map on the right top corner thiner and an option to make it fade after you have set your line ? It takes up a lot of the screen for no need during your shot.

I think it would be a big boost to this game if you can play real time. Just like in golf your playing partners tee off in playing order. You'd be able to see each persons shot and just like in real golf making a vocal comment. You could talk about wind , pin placement, and all. Makes it more like a true "simulator"over just a game. At the end you all could sit down for a beer with something like skype and talk about the game. or everybody can hit at same time and then the results of each person would show up on the screen. If you want the hurry version.

This will be a great feature. In TW09, the online playing is pretty cool, no needs to wait for any player to hit the ball. Every golfer play his hole at his pace, but have to wait for all the players to go to the next hole. We just see the balls traces of all the players, pretty fun.

I suggest to to the same. Perhaps with an option for waiting all the players to be on the green before anybody putting.

When the online play is available I hope you will be able to see your opponents ball tracers. Also it would be nice to have tournaments and match play events. Is Crooked Stick coming to optishot ?

Hey Steve, is there anyway to have an option for a more realistic roll. It seems like all shots from all clubs just stick and don't roll even with fast greens. I think his addition would be great for Optishot.

Well after taking some time off from optishot, I heard some great newsss that Optishot is going LIVEEEEE YEssssssssss, So I broke out the system and getting geared up for Live Play, I look forward to seeing you all online Live this Fall...

If online play becomes a reality, its only a simple step to monthly or weekly tournaments that could be player ranked/handicapped with a potential prize. i.e. 5% off a premium course download for places 10-6, 10% for 5th, 15% for 4th... etc. i could see this going the way of the golden tee online tournaments..
